The Standard Book of Spells (Years 1-7)

1st Year Spells

Alohomora- Unlocking Charm
Fluctuatio- Jelly Legs Jinx
Locomotor Mortis- binds a person’s legs together, making them unable to walk
Lumos- Creates a narrow beam of light from a person’s wand
Nox- Turns off the light created by “Lumos”<br>Oculus Reparo- Repairs glass
Petrificus Totalus- Full Body Bind(only a person’s eyes can move, not knocking them out)
Serpensortia- summons a snake from the caster’s wand
Wingardium Leviosa- Levitating charm (constant effect)
Vipera Evanesca- reverses Serpensortia

2nd Year Spells (include 1st year spells)

Arania Exumay- throws back spiders
Engorgio- Causes something to swell
Expelliarmus- Disarms an opponent
Everte Statum- Flings an opponent a few feet in the air
Fera Verto- Transfigures an animal into a cup
Flipendo- Used to push objects (not used on people)
Finite Incantatem- Ends current spell effects(1-3rd year affects, not spells as they fly towards you.)
Impervius- Makes something water repellent or resistant
Lumos Solem- Creates a short blast of light as bright as the sun
Obliviate- Memory charm (potency depends on a person’s skill)
Orchideous- Summons bouquet of flowers from the tip of a wand.
Reducio- Reverses Engorgio; returns something to normal size
Rictusempra- Tickling charm
Tarantallegra- Makes a person dance uncontrollably
Wadawasi- shoots glue out of a keyhole

3rd Year Spells (include 1st-2nd year spells)

Aparecium- Makes Invisible Ink Visible
Cistem Aperio- Opens a trunk
Cunfundo- Confuses someone (short term)
Deletrius- Can be used to erase the effects of the Prior Incantato spell
Enervate- Wakes someone up hit with a stunner
Immobulus- Makes something stop moving temporarily
Incarcerous- wraps someone up in ropes
Lumos Maxima- Generates a lot stronger beam of light than a normal “lumos"
Mobliocorpus- moves a body
Priori Incantato- Shows the last spell effect by a wand
Riddikulus- Defeats a boggart

4th Year Spells (include 1st-3rd year spells)

Accio- Summoning Charm
Bombarda- Blasting Curse
Conjunctiva- Temporarily blinds opponent
Densaugeo- Causes teeth to grow rapidly
Morsmorde- Summons the Dark Mark (users will be picked up by Law Enforcement)
Diffindo- Slicing charm
Evanesco- Causes something to disappear (can’t be brought back)
Extinguo- Puts out a fire
Furnunculus- Causes boils to appear all over the afflicted area
Impedimenta- Slows down or stops an object
Incendio- Starts a fire
Oblittero- Removes traces of tracks left by someone
Point Me- When used on the wand in the palm, points wand tip north
Protego- Simple Shield Charm: deflects simple spells
Quietus- Reverses sonorus
Relashio- fires hot sparks from the wand
Reparo-Repairs damage to an object (not a person)
Scourgify- Cleans something (not vanishes)
Sonorus- Causes your voice to be amplified
Stupefy- Stunning spell (knocks out opponent)

5th Year Spells (include 1st-4th year spells)
Avis- Makes birds appear out of wand
Colloportus- Locks doors
Dillusio- Makes a person blend into their surroundings, like a chameleon
Expecto Patronum- Summons a Patronus to drive away dementors
Finite- Cancels current spell effects (4th-7th spell affects, not spells flying at you.)
Flagrate- Fire writing spell
Lacarnum Inflamare- Sets a person’s robes on fire
Leglimens- Mind reading incantation
Pack- Packing charm
Reducto- Blasts solid objects out of a person’s path (not to be used on humans)
Silencio- Silencing charm

6th Year Spells (include 1st-5th year spells)

Arresto Mementum- Slows an object’s descent
Bracchium Emmendo- Basic Healing charm: Broken arms only
Conjurno- helps conjure items(simple items only)
Ferula- Conjures a wooden rod
Langlock- Glues tongue to roof of mouth temporarily. Can't use verbal spells while under effects.
Muffliato-Creates a buzzing noise in the affected's ears. Can't hear what you're talking about until the curse is removed.

7th Year Spells (include 1st-6th year spells)

Apareo- Apparation (not on Hogwarts grounds)
Avada Kedavra- Killing Curse (use mandates life sentence in Azkaban)
Conjurie- helps conjure items (more complex items)
Crucio- Causes immense pain (use mandates 15 year sentence in Azkaban)
Disapareo- Disapparation (not on Hogwarts grounds)
Fidelis- Fidelius Charm
Imperio- controls victim (use mandates 10 year sentence in Azkaban)
Portus- creates a portkey
Sectumsempra-Slashes the person on whom it is used.
